If you own a 6.0L powerstroke then you know they have some issues. Knowledge is power though, if you do some research and take the time to educate yourself. You can avoid all of the failures these trucks are known for. The 2003 through 2004 powerstrokes have metal intercooler pipes on the drivers side and the passengers side. The 2005 and newer 6.0L trucks have a plastice intercooler pipe on the driver's side. There is a corrugated section that's raised up right where the tube connects to the intercooler. You can't see this section because it sits right below the air filter box. That section of tube swells up every time the turbo is making boost. Over time that section will rub on the bottom of the air box and will wear a hole in it. As the owner of the truck you may notice a slight loss in horse power and throttle response when this happens. If you don't know what to look for and you keep driving it with a hole right there, the truck will first start to run a little hotter. As that hole gets bigger the boost leak becomes worse and worse and you can overheat the engine causing much more expensive problems to occur.
